Provide safe, decent, affordable housing for the residents of our community.

DeKalb Habitat homes are built primarily with volunteer labor and take place all over DeKalb County. Habitat build days, typically on Saturdays, are an opportunity to see our mission come to life as we put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, community and hope.

Habitat builds offer abundant volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups on weekends and weekdays that range from the restoration of foreclosed homes to the construction of brand new houses. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us. Volunteers are involved in most phases of construction, even though many have no prior construction experience or building skills.

What Goes Behind a Habitat Build?

Our build days are led by experienced builders who serve as House Leaders. These House Leaders guide the construction work completed by volunteers who work together to provide a quality home for a deserving family.

The type of work volunteers do varies greatly in scope but can include siding, flooring, painting, and landscaping. Depending on the size of the project, construction can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. When everything is complete, the home will be dedicated to a family so that they can begin a new chapter of their life.

  • Portable Power Tool Safety (20 mins)
  • Preventing slips trips and falls (20 mins)
  • Fall Safety (16 mins)
  • Back Safety (22 mins)

Go to https://hfhaffiliateinsurance.com/ and scroll down the page until you see a box that says ‘Online safety training course’

 

Click ‘Begin now’ and it’ll take you to a pop-up screen. Read this portion carefully, there will be a code you’ll need to access the training. Copy it onto your clipboard or write it down to remember.

 

After you have copied the code, press the ‘Take training course now’ button and it will take you to the log-in page. Paste or type the code into the ‘Employee Access Code’ box and press ‘submit’
