April is National Volunteer Month

Volunteerism

This month, we salute the 300 individuals and 18 groups that have volunteered with us for their unwavering service to Habitat for Humanity-DeKalb. They are instrumental in achieving our mission of providing safe, decent, affordable housing in DeKalb County.

We celebrate our volunteers every day and especially during National Volunteer Month. The impact volunteers have on our work at Habitat for Humanity is not hard to quantify. We literally could not accomplish the important work we do in the DeKalb County without volunteers; individuals and groups.

Volunteers are the core of the Habitat model and Habitat DeKalb values all the volunteers who continue to donate their time and expertise as we build hope, houses and community in DeKalb County, Ga. Please know we appreciate each and every one of you!

Sharon Steele, Executive Director

Our volunteers generously donate a part of their lives to help a hard-working family build a stable home. Additionally, they work tirelessly to support seniors and veterans age in place by performing much needed home repairs.

Years ago, I had the opportunity to visit a family who moved into a Habitat for Humanity home that I played a small role in helping build. For a mom and her young daughter, it was life-changing. As a volunteer, your work changes lives. It’s meaningful. It’s important. And we truly couldn’t do it without you. Thank you!
