The Playhouse Project
The Playhouse Project is a unique opportunity that allows sponsors to partner with Habitat DeKalb to build a playhouse for a local family in need—providing children with a safe place to play and imagine what home means to them. It's designed to teach young children the pride and joy of homeownership.
"Little houses build big houses"
Why sponsor a playhouse?
Sponsoring a Playhouse Build is an easy way to engage with your employees, boost company morale, and build your corporate social responsibility standards. Teams work together on tasks such as putting up the walls, shingling the roof, and attaching the playhouse trim.
Once assembled, teams get a chance to show off their creative skills by decorating each playhouse to fit the likes and interests of the child they've been paired with. We encourage ALL of our sponsors to show up and show out with their most creative designs!!
To sponsor a build, companies make a minimum donation of $3,000 per playhouse to support the cost of your group's build day and benefit Habitat’s affordable homeownership programs and services.
How it works?
Teams of any kind can build playhouses – corporate groups, faith congregations, youth and school groups, members of community organizations and groups of friends. Each playhouse takes 6-8 hours to build and paint with the help of 8-10 volunteers. Each playhouse is pre-cut and brought to your parking lot or event site so that your team can build and decorate! Several playhouses can be built at once to engage more people.
Revenue from this program is used to fund the construction of real Habitat homes for struggling families or senior and veteran home repairs in DeKalb County. To reserve a Playhouse Build Day, we ask that your team commits to a sponsorship that covers the cost of building and decorating your playhouse. We will recognize your generous sponsorship on social media, in our monthly newsletter and in our annual report.
