WHAT IS THE PLAYHOUSE PROJECT?

The Playhouse Project is a unique opportunity that allows Habitat Dekalb to partner with sponsors to build a playhouse for a local family in need—providing children with a safe place to play and imagine what home means to them.

The Playhouse Project is a program designed to teach young children the pride and joy of homeownership.

"Little houses build big houses"

The funds raised through the Playhouse Program support Habitat's mission of building homes, communities, and hope

Why Playhouse?

Our Playhouse Build Days are a unique building opportunity for teams to work together to construct and decorate children’s playhouses, which are then donated to military and veteran families in DeKalb County or are auctioned off to raise funds. Proceeds raised by Playhouse Build Days, through sponsorships and/or auction, provide direct support for our programs.

Playhouse Builds also offer a flexibility that regular Build Days do not – we come to you or provide a functional workspace for your team.

How it works?

Teams of any kind can build playhouses – corporate groups, faith congregations, youth and school groups, members of community organizations and groups of friends. Each playhouse takes 6-8 hours to build and paint with the help of 8-10 volunteers. Each playhouse is pre-cut and brought to your parking lot or event site so that your team can build and decorate! Several playhouses can be built at once to engage more people.

Sponsorship

Revenue from this program is used to fund the construction of real Habitat homes for struggling families or senior and veteran home repairs in DeKalb County. To reserve a Playhouse Build Day, we ask that your team commits to a sponsorship that covers the cost of building and decorating your playhouse. We will recognize your generous sponsorship on social media, in our monthly newsletter and in our annual report.
