A Son Asked for Help—Here’s How We’re Answering
Mr. Chowdhury was born in Bangladesh on June 29, 1942, the only child of parents who taught him the value of hard work and perseverance. He graduated high school in 1960, later married, and built a life centered on family and faith. Together, he and his wife raised three sons who remained close to their parents throughout adulthood.
In 2013, the Chowdhury family made the life-changing decision to come to America. They settled in Doraville, where Mr. Chowdhury has lived quietly and steadily for more than a decade. As he grew older, however, parts of the home he loved became increasingly difficult—and unsafe—for him to navigate.
His son, familiar with the work Habitat for Humanity DeKalb does for seniors, reached out for help. He wanted to ensure his father could remain in the home that held years of memories, warmth, and family gatherings.
Power Home Remodeling partnered with Habitat for Humanity DeKalb, bringing their own equipment and materials to serve the Chowdhury family. Volunteers completed critical repairs that improved safety and accessibility, allowing Mr. Chowdhury to continue living independently and with dignity.
For families like the Chowdhurys, these repairs are far more than construction projects—they are an answer to prayer, a way of honoring a lifetime of resilience, and a reminder that this community cares for its elders.
If you’d like to help more seniors remain safely in the homes they love, your support makes that possible.
