DeKalb County Veteran Receives a New Roof

A DeKalb County Army veteran received a new roof on September 27th from Kaiser Siding & Roofing, an Owens Corning Platinum Roofing Contractor, as part of the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project that gives back to U.S. Military Veterans.

The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project is a nationwide effort to show gratitude and honor the veterans who served our country and the families who support them. Since the inception of this program in 2016, more than 350 military members have received new roofs. This is the second with Habitat for Humanity-DeKalb.

Through a partnership with us, U.S. Army Veteran Stacie M. was selected and approved as the recipient for the roof replacement through our Veterans Repair Program.

Stacie is a Desert Shield Veteran. After her active duty, she re-enlisted in the Army Reserves for an additional 6 years. Partly as a result of her time served, she deals with multiple health issues.

A single mother who raised two daughters, Stacie bought her home in 1992. The same home that received a new roof all these years later. Until recently, she was able to keep up with most of the required maintenance herself.

Unfortunately, Stacie was laid off during COVID_19. Then she had the bad experience of working with some unethical contractors. All of this led her to Habitat for Humanity’s repair program for veterans.

We greatly appreciate the Owens Corning Foundation for donating roofing materials and Kaiser Siding & Roofing for donating the labor to make a new roof possible for this deserving veteran.
